Mass and weight — Describe
Question
Question
What is weight, and how is it related to mass?
Answer
Weight is the force on an object caused by a gravitational field acting on its mass, calculated using W = mg, where g is the gravitational field strength. Weight is a vector that acts toward the centre of the field (e.g. vertically downward on Earth) and, unlike mass, changes if the gravitational field strength changes.
