Energy resources — Describe

Question
Question

What are the general advantages and disadvantages of renewable and non-renewable energy resources?

Answer

Renewable resources (water, wind, solar, geothermal, biofuel) are not depleted with use and generally have low environmental impact, but are often unreliable or dependent on weather and location, and typically generate power on a smaller scale, needing more land or equipment. Non-renewable resources (fossil fuels, nuclear fuel) are reliable and available on demand and can generate power on a large scale, but are finite and cause significant environmental impact (fossil fuels: greenhouse gases and air pollution; nuclear: radioactive waste and risk of accidents).
