How is efficiency defined and calculated in terms of energy and power?
Answer
(a) efficiency = (useful energy output / total energy input) × 100%. (b) efficiency = (useful power output / total power input) × 100%. Both give the percentage of the total input that is usefully transferred rather than wasted.
