Definition : Electric Field is a region where an a charge experience the electric force

Every charge as electric fields around it and say a charge comes close to another charge, in another word enters the field that charge will experience a force causing it either attracts or repel

So Like charges will attract and unlike charge will repel

This fields are represented by the lines radial inward or outward

so direction of this fields represent the direction of force acting on a positive charge
