How do changes in amplitude and frequency affect the loudness and pitch of a sound wave?

Increasing the amplitude of a sound wave increases its loudness, since a larger amplitude carries more energy. Increasing the frequency of a sound wave increases its pitch, so higher-frequency waves sound higher pitched.
