Electromagnetic induction — Describe

Describe an experiment to demonstrate electromagnetic induction.

Connect a coil of wire to a sensitive centre-zero galvanometer. Move a bar magnet quickly into and out of the coil - the galvanometer needle deflects, showing that an e.m.f. (and current) has been induced in the coil. The direction of deflection reverses when the magnet's motion or pole is reversed, and the size of the deflection increases if the magnet is moved faster or a stronger magnet is used.
