What is the effect on the magnetic field around a straight wire or solenoid of changing the size or direction of the current?

Increasing the size of the current increases the strength of the magnetic field at any given point. Reversing the direction of the current reverses the direction of the magnetic field (as found using the right-hand grip rule).
