Electric charge — Describe

Question
Question

Describe an experiment to distinguish between electrical conductors and insulators.

Answer

Connect the material being tested into a simple circuit in series with a battery and an ammeter (or a lamp). If a current flows (the ammeter gives a reading, or the lamp lights up), the material is a conductor. If no current flows (the ammeter reads zero, or the lamp stays off), the material is an insulator.
