State the advantages of transmitting electricity at high voltage.

Transmitting electricity at high voltage allows a smaller current to deliver the same amount of power; since power loss in cables depends on current squared (P = I^2R), this greatly reduces the energy wasted as heat, and also allows thinner, cheaper cables to be used - making transmission more efficient and economical.
